Brick Media Arts & Organizers (BMAO) Apprenticeship

Our apprenticeship program equips emerging leaders with hands-on experience in media, organizing and civic strategy—preparing them to shape the future of their communities.

The Brick Media Arts & Organizers Apprenticeship is a creative workforce pipeline that prepares youth and emerging talent (ages 14–24) for careers in journalism, public affairs, public life, and economic justice. Designed by The Brickerati Group, BMAO is a generational investment in power building, democratized planning, and civic responsibility.

On the Media side, apprentices train as citizen journalists—reporting, documenting, and analyzing the systems that shape their neighborhoods. Through real-time campaigns, interviews, and public media production, they build civic literacy and journalistic discernment. Whether they’re restoring trust in local news, launching independent platforms, or expanding access to underrepresented stories, participants are grounded in the ethical practice of storytelling that uplifts and informs. This reflects our #findingourfibers commitment: cultivating the moral, cultural, and strategic awareness needed to raise generations of conscious, service-minded leaders.

On the Organizers side, BMAO delivers experiential learning in grassroots strategy, 2nd Generation CPTED, and Creative Placemaking. Apprentices learn to map community assets, engage neighbors, activate public spaces, and design campaigns that stimulate cohesion and local economic growth. Content creation? We start there. But participatory planning is where we build the future.

Together, these two tracks equip young people to shape both narrative and neighborhood—laying the foundation for systems of care, visibility, and power that will outlast them.
